I take my dog to the vet in Nanton, 45 minutes away. I grew up on a farm and we were good friends with the vet a small town over. I remember I watched an emergency calf delivery once. So, I just enjoy the experience of small town vets overall, and th I complained recently that I use too many different mediums. I really needed to “hunker down” and hone one. So, naturally I bought some hand rolled soft pastels and here we are. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I would argue this isn’t bad for a firs Ummm, I was so excited to finish this commission and visit my friend to deliver it that I accidentally forgot to get a picture of it. My bad! Here is Proud Mountain in situ. This painting was the final result of that 1980s inspired post awhile ago. Flowers are pure joy. At their peak they are unapologetic and bursting with energy. The audacity! (I admire them for it). I wish I could grow flowers like Mary did in the Secret Garden, but I would need access to British rain and not the heat-wave I could be painting something that is 4 inches squared and I still wouldn’t be able to keep myself on one palette. I used to paint on one of those tiny folding travel palettes and that’s basically inconceivable this point. It’s Today I was going to go for a quick rip up a local mountain; sadly it was raining. The painting is supposed to represent something you saw today, so here is some kite flying right before a hail I read in the @swintonsart blog recently that, unlike a pastry, it’s better to have an undercooked painting than over baked. 85% > 105%   I had a #wip that has been hovering around 80% for too long and I couldn’t figure it out.
